Unforgettable Last Victory Of Winx At The Longines Queen Elizabeth Stakes

As the Official Partner and Official Timekeeper of the Australian Turf Club, the Swiss watch brand Longines is proud to have timed and captured the memorable last victory of Winx led by Australian jockey Hugh Bowman at the Longines Queen Elizabeth Stakes.

The featured and eponymous race will be remembered as it was the very last race of champion mare and 2018 Longines World’s Best Racehorse Winx. During the race day, the winged hourglass brand added to the glamour of the event by hosting its Longines Prize for Elegance, which honours the most elegant female racegoer. This world-class racing event was also the occasion for the brand to highlight the Official Watch of the event, a model from the Record collection.

The Championships, a two-day race event culminating with the much-anticipated Longines Queen Elizabeth Stakes, attracts some of the world top horses, owners, trainers, jockeys and is considered as a highlight in Australia’s sporting and social calendar. As the Title Partner and Official Timekeeper of this prestigious equestrian rendezvous, Longines is proud to have timed the memorable last victory of champion mare Winx led by Australian jockey Hugh Bowman, as the Longines World’s Best Racehorse retires but remains the top-rated horse on the planet. The winning owners, trainer and jockey were presented with an elegant Longines timepiece from the hands of Amelia Michael, Longines Brand Manager Australia.

In addition, besides performance, elegance was also rewarded by Longines as the brand, together with its Longines Queen Elizabeth Stakes Ambassador Jesinta Franklin, hosted the Longines Prize for Elegance. The model and entrepreneur used her fashion expertise to select the most elegant female racegoer of the day. She declared “racing and fashion are a timeless fit and Longines timepieces are elegant and sophisticated in design; they are the perfect accessory to compliment any race-day outfit and elevate the style stakes”. The lucky lady was awarded with a beautiful timepiece from the Longines DolceVita collection.

The prestigious race was also the perfect occasion for the brand to highlight the Official Watch of the event, a model from the Record collection. This line combines classic elegance and excellence, becoming the spearheads of the brand. Moreover, the automatic timepieces of this collection house a chronometer movement with unique properties, certified by the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC).

The Longines Queen Elizabeth Stakes holds a special place in Longines illustrious history in equestrian timekeeping, as it was indeed during this race day in 2015 that the Swiss watch brand launched the game-changing development for timekeeping and tracking technology in thoroughbred racing: the Longines Positioning System (LPS).
