Game-changing Longines Tracking System
served the King George Day

The Swiss watch brand Longines was proud to provide its timekeeping and tracking expertise to all races of the King George Day through its newest Longines Tracking System, first inaugurated last month during the Royal Meeting.

This game-changing technology provides instant data on the exact position of horses during a race, race rankings, the distance between horses as well as their acceleration and deceleration. In addition, it measures the horses’ covered and remaining distance in the race. During this prestigious event, the brand celebrated Cliffs of Capri’s victory in the Longines Handicap Stakes for Lady Riders by rewarding Gina Andrews, jockey, Melbourne 10 Racing, owner, Jamie Osborne, trainer and the groom with elegant timepieces.

Longines was proud to serve as Official Partner and Timekeeper of Royal Racecourse by providing its innovative Longines Tracking System to the King George Day. Successfully inaugurated last June during Royal Ascot, this extremely accurate technology provides instant data on the exact position of horses during a race, race rankings, the distance between horses as well as their acceleration and deceleration. In addition, it measures the horses’ covered and remaining distance in the race. Another attractive feature is the fact that the system does not require any permanent installation on the racecourse, as it is entirely based on satellite data, which enables racecourses located in protected historical or natural sites to be equipped with such advanced technology

Another highlight for Longines was the victory of Cliffs of Capri led by Gina Andrews in the Longines Handicap Stakes for Lady Riders. In recognition of their remarkable performance, the brand presented Gina Andrews, Melbourne 10 Racing, winning owner, Jamie Osborne, winning trainer and the winning groom with elegant Longines timepieces.

As the Official Watch of the King George Day, Longines has highlighted a model from the Conquest V.H.P. “Very High Precision” collection, representing a new achievement in the field of quartz and combining great precision, high technicality and a sporty look, marked by the brand’s unique elegance. Featuring a silver dial, this steel timepiece is equipped with a movement developed exclusively for Longines and renowned for both its high degree of precision for an analog watch (± 5 seconds/year) and its ability to reset its hands after an impact or exposure to a magnetic field.

Longines’ passion for equestrian sports dates back more than 140 years. In 1878 already, it produced a chronograph engraved with a jockey and his mount.  Seen on the racetracks as early as 1881 and extremely popular among jockeys and horse-lovers, this model enabled its user to time performances to the second. Longines’ involvement in equestrian sports includes flat racing, show-jumping, endurance, dressage, driving and eventing competitions. Longines chose to support equestrian sports as a perfect illustration of tradition, performance and elegance, which are the key values of the brand.
